money for the people

way to google! structured as a philanthropic arm of google, yet as a for-profit vs. a non-profit, i am anxious to see if they are more successful than the traditional npo philanthropy at achieving their goals. very anxious.

minor facelift

i made the shift to beta blogger last week and with it comes a few new options for manipulating your layout. i fiddled around with it a bit and came up with this modified look.

in the jumbled prose of a clarivoyant schizophrenic vendor on w. 39th and broadway smiling as he spooned falafel and hummus carefully into a pita, "same company, different factory..."

human tricks

ok, this is very intriguing. D. sent this to me at work on friday and it is something to broadcast to the masses...

how smart is your right foot?

this will boggle your mind. see if you can outsmart your foot, but you
can't!

1. while sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the floor and
make clockwise circles with it.

2. now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right
hand. your foot will change direction uncontrollably!

ouch

so i need to take a break from running. two weeks ago, i pushed a run well past my training level. i had worked up to a 15-mile run for my long runs and i was feeling a might fine one day and pushed it to around 20 miles. after which i took the following day off for rest and then went out for a run the day after. oooh, a slight pain in my right knee. i labored it and finished out my usual run.

the day after this, again intermittent pain on the underside of my knee cap. i decided to take heed on this and take a week's rest. after a week, i went out and it was as if there was no rest taken. again the knee cap yelped at me to stop. fine! that was a week ago, and i took my first run since then this morning. i've got a problem.

this sucks, but is the inevitable plight of the pavement pounders. this axes my plans for any organized runs this fall, as i anticipate having to take at least 3 weeks off running to allow my issue to right itself. i will continue to bike, and am strongly considering joining the YMCA to access their pool and rededicate myself to swimming through a chlorinated box.

sorry, mr. knee. it was my fault for being overzealous. i respect your intricate workings and plead that you heal in due time.
