month lapse
alas, summer is nearly here and time continues to fly. brief recap of the elapsed time: work, work, work, md & s in for visit, j rossi in for visit, ma & pa w. in for visit, jason & justin in for visit.
the coming weeks hold a few weekend get-aways with dave & jen--both camping trips: one to the south; one to the west, backcountry-style. should be a grand time on both respective trips. the trip south also holds a hot spring in the cards. giddyup.

impact of blogs
as you may recall, i have pondered the values of blogging a few times within the past year.
it continues to be a ruminating question as there are baby blogs, cat and dog blogs, blogs about bubble gum, and a wash of personal rants and raves such as soyboy, here.
from my limited research, most of the press regarding the pinnacle influence of blogging came around the last presidential election: here (pdf), here, here (pdf), and here.
is it that the peak awareness and noticable impact of blogging hit in 04? do we now just take it for granted that the blogosphere is being watched and (more importantly) listened to by a great number of people? what influence does blogging really have on our culture? on our political process? on our mindset? on our quality of life?

spinach and radio button voting
then the other day i was passing through the grocery and a bag of coloradoan-grown spinach curiously glared at me from the shelf. in such a drought of the popeye favorite that it looked very foreign in the display. much like an underground supply of contraband. with little to no hesitation, i snagged a bag and brought it home. last night i dove in, with reluctance and hesitation i might add, but i absorbed the pleasure of the mr and mrs spinach. my question is this, is it stupid to cast aside recent happenings and fall into the notion of statistical probability will clear the bill of health for this bag of spinach, as it has done with every other bag we have ever bought?

crusty?
why is this?
am i insanely busy? not
insanely.
am i growing increasingly bored of
blogging? not the case, i believe.
perhaps it is i
who am growing more and more boring, as an individual. less
inquisitive, less fascinated, less entertained by the
mundane...naw .
ebb and flow, i
suppose. the key to riding out the subtle changes in interest, emotion,
fascination, intrigue is to simply be agreeable with the present
moment. not to fight it and wish that you felt differently now about
whatever it is you are feeling/not feeling. the ebb, the flow.
undulations ofmundanity. the nuance of human existence. the beauty of simplicity. the act of being uninterested is interesting. unfascinated
, fascinating.
to make the best out of the moment,
you can always make croutons out of your stale state. or bread pudding
for that matter.

minor facelift
i made the shift to beta blogger last week and with it comes a few new options for manipulating your layout. i fiddled around with it a bit and came up with this modified look.
in the jumbled prose of a clarivoyant schizophrenic vendor on w. 39th and broadway smiling as he spooned falafel and hummus carefully into a pita, "same company, different factory..."
