holiday cheer

this holiday season, a and i found ourselves behind the wheel of our trusty japanese-engineered steed for the 700 mile trek across the shit state of nebraska to the icy iowan tundra.

our kitty cat went along on the adventure, too, and was quite pleasant company.

we caravaned on the way out with our friends jen and dave, who were making the drive all the way to ohio for their family convergence. we had walkie-talkies and developed a handle, "burrito tampon."

the drive was numbing across the straight plains. i detest the flaccid state of nebraska and, on this trip, have broken my vow to never trek across this asinine allotment of land. for shame.

alas, we had a very nice time visiting @ "the land" house with ma, pa, and snv. our time with extended family was brief, yet packed with smiles and joy.

the days flew by like well gin in a college bar and we soon found ourselves strapped into the subaru chariot once again.

our travels reprieved nearly as soon as they started as we stopped in on the rossi clan in w. dsm, ioweegia for a short spell. we caught up with them on a walk with q. she is getting bigger and developing quite the personality with her big rosy cheeks and bright eyes. hugs, a few laughs, and jasmine tea with the rossis before we ventured back to the striated white lined concrete.

nye found us dozing on our couch before 8pm. a relaxing evening on a uber-hyped holiday, we saw the omnipotent ball drop for mtn time zone and whisked off to our pillows.

today has served as yet another day of rest, only venturing out to the mailbox as tiny tidbits of snow twinkled down this afternoon.

breaking the shackles with a few days off is a welcomed respite for this dedicated industriously productive worker.

t-day '07

made of 5 lbs of tofu and a large helping of tlc, the homemade tofu-turkey. it turned out pretty good. in the future we'll add some gluten flour and maybe some chickpea flour to create a tougher texture.

dandruff fell from the sky overnight.

for t-day this year, we are making a vegan feast from scratch. this includes a 5 lb. stuffed "byrd" of the soy genus. did a little prep last night and managed to work up an anticipatory appetite of excitement! more pics later.

tofurky day and q. tarantino

thursday a.m. we cracked our eyes to welcome a morning of dark java and tofurky basting. we thawed our byrd for the recommended 48 hours in the fridge and carefully sliced open the outer-casting. this year, a small bag of apple-cranberry dumplings were juxtaposition the signature tub of veg gravy and jerky-wishstix. a fine festive meal in a box. we spent the day with amy's family out at her sister and bro-in-laws place out in harford county. good times.

mr. tarantino came into play last night as one of his late installments made the feature showing on our dvd player, hostel. now, i am unsure if this was an absolute crap film, or just semi-crap.

tarantino reaches for the obscure in this poorly written 90 minute dud. the obligatory bimbo boobs bounced, the blood surged from severed veins, and the in-vogue torture chair was bolted semi-firmly to the floor.

ugh, lest we have to weed through tarantino's inane dialogue and obligatory set of cliched references he laces into every film? unless the point is to detest the protagonist and not really care if he gets his nads chopped off, stop writing like a high school boy, mr. t.

i want my 90 minutes back.

note: the film was produced/guided by tarantino. see comment #2

the lamest south park character ever...

in a 5-minute crunch to create a costume, towelie comes in handy.

a brilliant collage of towelie wisdom. and a brief wikihistory of the man behind the terry cloth. don't forget to bring a towel!
